Leah and I had a nice walk around Paw Paw Park yesterday morning. We didn’t encounter a single person during an hour or so wandering through the woods. I was a bit surprised at the size of this preserve, because we had only kayaked from here in the past and had not explored the trails at all. It was a nice easy walk and fairly quiet despite being near the main railroad tracks and US 31.
Van Raalte Farm
We had a nice walk around several of the trails at Van Raalte Farm today. The leaves are already turning on many of the trees, but it was a beautiful 72-degree evening for a stroll. Both Aly and Leah loved running down the sledding hill, and Leah keep saying “Pooh!” waiting for Winnie the Pooh to appear in the woods. (He didn’t). A few bonus pics of Leah from earlier this week are at the end of this gallery.
A walk in the woods
A few Saturdays ago, the little girls and I headed out to Sanctuary Woods nature preserve for a short hike. It’s a beautiful spot just off the edge of Lakes Macatawa and Michigan, with a few parking spots, but I’ve never seen the lot full. After parking, there’s a short loop around the lower area, with a few bridges crossing a tiny creek.
