This post is not any sort of recap of the Michigan Tree Climbing Championships, just a few pictures of the girls at Kids’ Climb part of the event, which gives kids a chance to rope climb up into the trees under the guidance of an expert. The event is right around the corner from our house at Prospect Park, and Aly was excited for it to return after discovering it last year.
We visited downtown on a sunny weeknight to pick up something at the Apothecary, and of course, to get ice cream.
Though it technically wasn’t Fall yet, we picked apples a few weeks back at Crane’s Orchard in Fennville, as we have in previous years. Honey Crisp apples are so popular that we always try to pick them in the first day or two they’re available, because there have been years that the good apples went in just a matter of days.
During my September visit to Michigan, we had good weather most of the time, which meant lots of time enjoying the outdoors. This is basically a post for Grandma Jan – 90% pictures of the girls.
I drove straight through to Michigan on the Friday before Labor Day and arrived early on Saturday morning. We hit the pool on Saturday after while I was still mostly vegetative, and then headed out to Saugatuck Dunes State Park on Sunday. Unlike our last trip to SSP back in July, it was not freezing, nor did we have the place to ourselves.
I’ve hiked nearly every weekend day since I moved to SC except when I was out of town or had guests, but I was feeling a bit worn out when I got up Saturday morning, so I tried to think of something else to explore. That’s when it hit me: the Blue Ridge Parkway is only an hour away.
