This is a newer tradition, but it’s a great one. The Outdoor Discover Center is a fantastic asset just south of Holland, and they host a Halloween event every year. It was a blast!
As is also tradition, we spent the Friday evening before Halloween at Van Raalte Farm’s annual Halloween event.
As with every year, we made an early October visit to Post Family Farm for pumpkins, donuts, games, and… kittens?
We were lucky to have Maggie G come stay with us for a few days in Holland. The three girls had lots of fun – as we did we two adults.
As with most recent years, we made an October visit to Post Family Farm for the playgrounds, animals, hay rides, and pumpkins.
But mostly the donuts. All the donuts.
After having been away since Memorial Day, I recently spent two weeks in Michigan with the girls. I saw the dazzling total solar eclipse on a Monday (my advice: never miss a chance to be in the path of totality for a total solar eclipse!), worked part of Tuesday, and then headed up to the top of Great Smoky Mountains National Park to spend a few hours photographing the night sky. Here’s one picture for now – more coming on that later in a future post:
After a quick business trip to Tulsa, I spent the last week of October in Michigan, because the girls wanted me to be there for Halloween.
This post is not any sort of recap of the Michigan Tree Climbing Championships, just a few pictures of the girls at Kids’ Climb part of the event, which gives kids a chance to rope climb up into the trees under the guidance of an expert. The event is right around the corner from our house at Prospect Park, and Aly was excited for it to return after discovering it last year.
We visited downtown on a sunny weeknight to pick up something at the Apothecary, and of course, to get ice cream.
Though it technically wasn’t Fall yet, we picked apples a few weeks back at Crane’s Orchard in Fennville, as we have in previous years. Honey Crisp apples are so popular that we always try to pick them in the first day or two they’re available, because there have been years that the good apples went in just a matter of days.
