Because birthdays are a big deal, this is the second post about Leah’s birthday this year. Here’s the first.
Leah chose Puppies as the theme for her party, which worked out well, since we still had some leftover supplies from the maybe-a-bit-too-much Puppy Party that we threw Aly when she turned six.
Thanks Meg.
Leah’s party was on a Monday night (her actual birthday) at a newish place in Holland called Meg’s Playhouse. A converted retail storefront, Meg’s has lots of toys, a party room, and a large fun house.
Playtime!
The trampoline got tons of action
And a ball pit…
…at the bottom of a double slide
A tire swing
Aly and Hannah got a bit feisty throwing balls at each others’ heads
Being near the ball pit was a bit overstimulating – for me
Leah took some time to herself and checked out the toys
A rare non-fighting sister moment. Don’t worry, that ended when they got to the bottom of the slide
Let them eat cake
So we did.
A puppy cake, of course
Each kid got a puppy
And a doghouse
And a puppy cup
Let’s open some presents!
Back in that post about Aly’s Puppy Party, you can see that the kids compressed into a four square-foot space while Aly opened presents, which was pretty hilarious.
It didn’t look like that would be a problem this time around. The kids self-organized themselves onto the rug.
This picture was taken 15 seconds later – I’m not kidding.
And this was six seconds after that
So that’s twenty-one seconds from neatly self-organized to swarming chaos. Impressive.
Note how the space between Leah and the table behind her is decreasing. She retreated several times and Rachel had to ask the kids to spread back out several time. It was hilarious.
