We had a nice few hours at Kinderplaats, the festival for kids that happens on the opening weekend of Tulip Time. Aly rode a camel for the second year in a row. Camel, that most Dutch of animals. Wonder how camels are at navigating canals?
I asked Aly to display her gap:
The girls loved the petting zoo as usual, though Leah was “scared” by the aggressiveness of the goats.
Aly also took two separate turns on the Holland Police Department’s “Convincer” but was only convinced that crashing is fun.
Dutch Dance Bonus
We made it downtown for one night of Dutch Dancing this year, though we can hear it at our house every night.
No visit to Tulip Time is complete without a look at the Fatballs wagon and the perpetual “Should I?” question. You shouldn’t.
Aly got a snow cone from the same place that we’ve been getting them since we started taking Devin down there 15 years ago. Snow cones now come with a built-in surround, and are not even cones? Odd.
Aly decided her family wasn’t sitting close enough to the dancing action and joined another family.
Leah entertained us with her own version of dutch dancing as well, which turned out to be the highlight of the night for me. After the funnel cake of course.
