On a recent random Wednesday night I went out to the beach at Saugatuck State Park to enjoy the sunset. The water was oddly warm, and yes, I mean warm. I was there again a few days later and it had returned to its typical iciness for this time of year. As you probably expect, I had the beach to myself and I lingered for about 90 minutes after sunset before making my way back to the parking lot under the moonless sky. I walked the route from memory, because it was so dark that I could not even see my own shoes, despite their horrible yellow Croc-iness. Maybe I’ll bring a flashlight next time.
